The average cost of large suppliers’ standard variable tariffs rose by £48/year following increases from npower and Scottish Power of £109/year and £86/year respectively. These will apply for existing customers on 16 March and 31 March respectively
At the start of March E.ON UK and SSE announced standard variable tariff rises. Following EDF Energy’s price rise announcement in December, British Gas is the only large supplier not to increase its standard variable tariff this winter
The average cost of short-term fixed tariffs increased for all supplier types. Medium suppliers saw the largest rise in prices with an average increase of £28/year
