Charged Up: Future Fleet | Quarter Two 2019

Since the first issue of Charged Up: Future Fleet, a number of key developments have taken place within the EV space. Most notably amongst these, is the substantial involvement of the government. In July, the Climate Change Act 2008 was amended to end the UK’s contribution to climate change by setting the target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This will have a substantial impact upon the Road to Zero and the way in which the UK pursues zero-emission transport Also, in July two significant consultations were published that seek views on a smart EV charging system and the installation of EV charge points in residential and non-residential buildings. In this issue we cover these developments alongside the events that have taken place outside of the policy sphere. We focus on Norway, a nation that is setting the pace for the uptake of EVs. Specifically, we examine the tax environment created there to stimulate a market for e-mobility. As part of our series of trials and innovation, we hear from EO Charging about how they implemented a scalable fleet charging solution for city delivery firm Gnewt Cargo. We also cover RenEnergy’s solar car park, recently installed at Aviva’s Horizon call centre in Norwich. The automotive market is showing unprecedented levels of collaboration and investment in EV development. We examine this emerging trend.
