Electricity Settlement Reform––Moving to Half Hourly Settlement 7 April 2014 Ofgem announced the launch of a new project under the Smarter Markets programme on 4 April to reform electricity settlement. The project will examine how the settlement process for Profile Classes 1-4 could be moved from non-half hourly (NHH) to half hourly (HH) following the roll-out of smart meters. The regulator considers HH settlement will benefit the market by: helping to put in place the right environment for increased use of demand-side response; enabling suppliers to forecast demand more accurately; and improving the efficiency of the settlement process.
