BEIS consultationCoal Generation in Great Britain – unabated coal closure 9 November 2016 BEIS issued a consultation on its coal closure policy on 9 November. The consultation seeks feedback on proposals to close all unabated coal fired power stations by 2025 and tests proposals for coal constraints in the years prior to that. The government is proposing to close all coal fired generation by 2025 either by applying the Emissions Performance Standards (EPS) for new plant to existing plant or by applying the EPS on to point source emissions from plant which burned solid fuel.
