Ofgem decision: Future Arrangements for the Electricity System Operator Electricity alert 14 August 2017 Headline Assessment 1         Assessment & recommendation The regulator has confirmed its view that National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) should legally separate its electricity system operator (ESO) and transmission owner (TO) roles, publishing its decision on 3 August. This followed consultation in January (see our Alert, 17/01/17). Ofgem stated that the ESO should be separately licensed and subject to distinct price controls, as well as having its own governance board, employees and offices.
