BEIS consults on widening eligibility for energy intensive industries to gain relief from renewable energy schemes 26 June 2018 Headline Assessment 1 Summary On Friday 22 June BEIS launched a consultation on whether to widen the eligibility for energy-intensive industries (EIIs) to be exempt from the indirect costs of renewable electricity support schemes. The scheme exemptions include Contracts for Difference (CfD), the Renewables Obligation (RO) and, if introduced, small-scale Feed-in Tariffs (FiT). The department is seeking views on potential competitive distortions as a result of the current threshold for exemption, which stands at 20% electricity intensity.
