Domestic Gas and Electricity (Tariff Cap) Bill 12 October 2017 1 Assessment & recommendation As expected BEIS published draft legalisation to introduce a broader standard variable tariff (SVT) price cap on 12 October. The legislation is designed to place an obligation on Ofgem to introduce supply licence conditions to impose a cap on all standard variable tariffs and default tariffs for domestic customers. These are defined as any non-fixed tariff or tariff which the customer is on due to a lack of choice.
