BEIS consultation outcome: Implementing the end of unabated coal by 2025 9 January 2018 Headline Assessment 1 Assessment & recommendation BEIS published its response to its November 2016 consultation on proposals to close all unabated coal fired power stations by 2025 on 5 January. The response sets out how the government intends to put the closures into effect, and the next steps for doing so. BEIS has determined that a 450gCO2/kWh emissions intensity limit should apply to solid fossil fuelled plant from 1 October 2025.
