Ofgem Decision on the Default Tariff Cap  15 November 2018 Headline Assessment 1 Assessment & recommendation Ofgem issued its final decision on the default tariff cap on 6 November. The level of the cap, which comes into effect on 1 January, has been set at £1,137 per year for a typical dual fuel customer paying by direct debit. This represents an overall increase of £1 from the level consulted on in September, reflecting increases to wholesale and smart metering cost allowances along with a decrease in the payment level uplift.
