The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has released its publication, Reliability and a Greener Grid – Power Trends 2019, outlining the potential network developments in the New York region. NYISO forecasts that wholesale energy storage and behind the meter (BTM) energy storage capacity growth will accelerate over the coming decades.
The NYISO projects growth in grid-connected storage resources that will participate in wholesale markets as competitive suppliers. This week’s Chart of the Week displays the overall expected connected energy storage in the New York power grid over the next 20 years, rising to approximately 3.8GW capacity by 2039.
