Chart of the Week | Conference call – where do the parties stand?

Tom Crisp Editor

The main party conference season drew to a close this week, with Prime Minister Theresa May’s speech confirming the introduction of draft legislation to pave the way for an energy price cap. Energy featured highly on the agenda throughout the conferences, with a range of speeches and fringe events revealing the latest thinking from both parties on key energy issues. One noticeable trend is the movement from both parties towards policy makers taking a more direct role in shaping the energy market. Backing for renewables and energy efficiency from both sides may herald new policies when Parliament returns from recess next Monday, with a range of legislation relevant to the sector expected to be progressed.
