Government considers fines for organisations with poor cyber security The government is considering implementing measures that would see organisations – including energy suppliers, generators and networks – fined if they fail to put in place effective cyber security measures. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) said the fines could be as high as £17mn, or 4% of global turnover, but added that they would be used as a last resort.
