Environmental Audit Committee hears views on government’s net zero targets On Wednesday 4 September, the Environmental Audit Committee held its first evidence session on Net Zero, with a focus on how the government sets and performs against its own net zero 2050 targets. Dr Rebecca Willis, Research Fellow, University of Exeter called for individual government departments to have clearer responsibilities in terms of their emissions targets, as although the Climate Change Act was "world leading," that there was not a "clear line of sight" between the Act and the responsibilities of individual departments. Panellists also stressed the need to incentivise smaller, innovative energy companies rather than rely solely on larger incumbents for the UK to meet its carbon emission reduction targets No link   Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation resigns  MP for Orpington and Universities Minister Jo Johnson announced his resignation from his position at BEIS and as Member of Parliament for Orpington on Twitter on Thursday 5 September.
