Government submits draft climate plan to EU

On Wednesday 19 December Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Richard Bruton published Ireland’s draft National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP). Under EU law, Ireland was required to publish a draft NECP by 31 December 2018. The plan, which each Member State is obliged to develop on a 10-year rolling basis, must set out climate and energy objectives, targets, policies and measures to meet several overarching EU energy targets.
