SuDS become mandatory for new developments in Wales The Welsh National Assembly has approved legislation that will make sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) mandatory on all new developments in Wales. Announced on 15 October, the new rules will apply to both urban and rural areas. SuDS aim to manage rainfall in a way similar to natural processes and are used to improve water quality, prevent water pollution and flooding in urban areas, and create green spaces and wildlife habitat.
