Issue 43

Neil Mearns Senior Writer

In this week’s issue, we cover in greater detail MOSL’s 2020-21 Business Plan, which aims to make it “easier to do business” in the sector. We also look at Water UK’s claim that domestic bills in England and Wales will fall by £17 this year as well as Scottish Water’s 25-year strategic plan Our Future Together. We also look at SES Water’s PR19 final determination this week. The Drinking Water Inspectorate published a position paper explaining that it will continue to uphold drinking water standards as the UK leaves the EU. Ofwat issued guidance for water and wastewater companies in England and Wales in preparing ring-fencing certificates. It also announced that South West Water has terminated its wholesale contract with Tor Water. Several innovative initiatives have been announced including a surfboard turned inspection device for water networks, a “Z stick” to measure the depth of underground water pipes and a “Dragonfly” water sensor product.
