This week, we look closer at the Net Zero 2030 Routemap – a plan to deliver a net zero water supply for water customers by 2030. The routemap outlines an approach for the sector and explains that a combined pathway for the sector will be developed combining demand, technology and removals led decarbonisation. Ofwat published its final decisions on the PR19 blind year adjustments and its conclusions on charging arrangements for new connection services for English companies. Ofwat also appointed four new Non-executive Directors to its Board. MOSL published the November edition of its Market Focus report, covering a range of issues from its remit with the Water Industry’s Environmental Agenda to the publication of its mid-year peer comparison league tables. The Water Industry Commission for Scotland published a letter to stakeholders, confirming that it is extending current support measures for the COVID-19 crisis for another two months. NI Water has been awarded £5mn to undertake an innovative Oxygen and Hydrogen Demonstrator Project, which will see a 1MW electrolyser deployed at a wastewater treatment works. Pennon Group is considering a takeover of Southern Water, according to The Times newspaper.
