This week, we look at water company domestic charges for 2021-22, with Water UK reporting that average bills for households in England and Wales are set to fall by £2 (0.6%) over the coming year. Ofwat published its annual report detailing how water companies have performed against the objectives of the Board leadership, transparency and governance principles. It found “a lot of good examples” of how companies are meeting the objectives. The Competition & Markets Authority published additional responses to cost of capital working papers regarding PR19 appeals. MOSL announced that an Action Plan has been drawn up to help deliver greater water efficiency in the sector. The Retailer Wholesaler Group water efficiency sub-group issued the plan in response to a call from Ofwat and Environment Agency. Ofwat announced the appointment of David Black as its interim CEO following Rachel Fletcher’s decision to take up a new leadership role with Octopus Energy. Business Stream also appointed a new Non-Executive Director. Severn Trent has successfully installed its first phase of smart units to prevent flooding from blockages.
