Facilitating flexibility: networks, connections and losses
The transmission and distribution networks are key elements taken for granted that enable power to be moved from generators to consumers. As both the demand in the network as well as the location of generation has shifted, networks are struggling to keep the network stable.
In this session, we will provide an introduction to the network operators, how revenues are generated, how costs are passed through to customers and the all-important topic of marginal loss factors and the impact this is having on generators. We review how and where assets are able to connect to the network, and how there are still opportunities available if you know where to look. We will also investigate the flexibility programs instigated by the networks themselves and what future projects are set to be developed.
