Financing net zero forum
11am - 12.30pm
The financing net zero forum is aimed at all types of investors, providing the community with a platform to exchange information and views, and to discuss common issues and concerns affecting energy policy, regulation and financing, and informed by our independent and objective analysis and insight.
The independent third-party mediation and contextual analysis provided by Cornwall Insight will act as a sound basis for informed, empirically-based discussions on these and other key issues.
The forum includes a spotlight presentation each month, delivered by Cornwall Insight experts, on a specific theme. This month, hear our thoughts on what falling renewables costs, zero marginal costs markets, hydrogen vs. electrification and the need for negative carbon emissions mean for future electricity markets.
Electricity markets are about to undergo significant transformation, similar to the changes seen in digital and communications driven by the falling cost of computing in the last 20 years. The falling cost of renewables and storage and the legislative necessity to address the climate crisis are going to drive unprecedented change in a sector seen as fundamental to the modern economy. Cornwall Insight has been helping new businesses and investors access the electricity and gas markets in GB for 10 years with its in-depth understanding of markets’ regulatory and commercial arrangements – we have used this insight in our Benchmark Power Curve, which investigates how the markets could react to the challenge of meeting Net Zero by 2050.
Our panel includes:
