Imbalance Prices and Settlement: Drivers and change Recording
Cornwall Insight experts will be hosted a webinar on the morning of 2 October on the processes and trends for electricity imbalance price formation and settlement. This is was the third in our series of webinars on balancing and settlement, following sessions on the Balancing Mechanism and Project TERRE (broadcast date 19 September).
The lead presenter Tom Edwards, BSC Panel Member and industry authority on the Balancing and Settlement Code, will set out how the costs incurred by the Electricity System Operator (ESO) to manage the operation of the transmission system are used to create half-hourly Single Imbalance Prices (SIP). We will also present data on recent SIP trends, including instances of negative prices.
The session will also walk through the financial settlement process and explain how parties contracted (i.e. traded) volumes are compared to metered (i.e. physical) positions to assign imbalance volumes. We will conclude by providing insights on how rules changes, ushered in by Ofgem’s Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement programme of work and other rule changes, may impact on market participants.
The session will conclude with a Q&A session with our experts.
