Helping you make sense of the energy and water sectors

Recording | Project TERRE - A new market for flexibility

This second in our series of webinars on electricity balancing arrangements in the GB market will give the latest updates on ‘Project TERRE’ that will introduce new arrangements for procuring reserve services in 2020.

Our industry experts will walk through the objectives of the Trans European Replacement Reserves Exchange (TERRE) which will see markedly different processes for the National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) to ensure sufficient reserve is available, and discuss routes to market for reserve providers.

The webinar will also explain the interaction of TERRE with the Balancing Mechanism, NIV chasing and wholesale markets. Using case studies, the session will explain how TERRE should operate in practice under a couple of scenarios where GB is importing or exporting and the system is over-/ under supplied. The session concludes with a Q&A session with our experts.

The presenters are Tom Edwards, BSC Panel Member and Emma Burns, BSC Imbalance Settlement Group Committee Member.
