Cornwall Insight is a leader in research, analysis, consulting, and training in the energy markets, and we are seeking an IT Manager to join our team based in Norwich.

The position:

The main purpose of this role is to maintain and expand our computer networks. You will be responsible and able to manage our WAN, LAN, SAN and EDI computer platforms whilst looking for ways to grow our networks  cost-effectively  to meet future needs.

The IT Manager will be responsible for developing network maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets, and keeping the executive team up to date on the latest networking technologies to help the company to succeed.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage information technology and computer systems to ensure efficient operational delivery, reducing downtime, and lower maintenance and repair costs.
  • Plan, organise, control, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations in conjunction with Modelling and Data Manager.
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures in line with QMS, ISO and Cyber Essentials.
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.  Maintain a workable (tested) Disaster Recovery plan to ensure the Group remains functional in the event of a crisis.
  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organisational objectives and delivery.
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time.
  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes.
  • Preserve assets, databases, information security and control structures.
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Determine the rationale and methods for upgrading company network software programs each time an update is released.
  • Monitor changing network technology and deliver a technology update to the executive team each quarter.
  • Work with CSC (Computer Service Centre) third-party first-line support for day-to-day IT issues and strategic IT projects.

The location:

We have offices in Norwich and London with the flexibility of working from home if preferred. 

 

Who should apply?

Essential

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in information technology management.
  • Good knowledge of all Microsoft applications and products.
  • Business experience analysing different IT Systems including implementation operability and sustainability planning.
  • Previous experience working with Prince 2 and/or project management methodology practices to include Quality Management.
  • Experience working with Microsoft, Unix and Linux operations systems.
  • Experience working with Telecommunications Lines and Phone Systems.
  • Experience developing web development projects to include social media integration, corporate websites, CMS, and Intranet/Extranet Systems.
