Cornwall Insight supported ERG, one of Europe’s leading independent renewable energy producers, in the assessment and acquisition of a portfolio of onshore wind assets
ERG, through its subsidiary ERG UK Holding Ltd, acquired 100% of a group of companies owning seven operational onshore wind farms in Northern England, with a total installed capacity of 73MW. The wind farms, previously owned by OnPath Energy Midco Limited, benefit from Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs).
Cornwall Insight’s expertise helped the investment decision by providing forecasting of future revenues and subsidy support across the UK wind portfolio. Delivering detailed analysis of wholesale power price expectations, and long‑term revenue outlooks to advise ERG.
The acquisition is a strategic milestone, with the seven wind farms generating 174GWh annually, this investment will help ERG to consolidate its position in the UK clean power market, while achieving robust financial returns.
Tom Andrews, Senior Consultant at Cornwall Insight said:
“This deal highlights the continuing role that operational onshore wind plays in supporting the UK’s energy transition, delivering low-carbon power today while providing stable, long-term revenues for investors.”
“We were pleased to support ERG with independent analysis of wholesale power prices and long-term revenue dynamics, helping to bring clarity to investment decisions in a complex market. As the transition accelerates, robust market insight is becoming ever more important in ensuring capital is invested effectively into assets that can deliver both decarbonisation and dependable returns.”
