The latest Capacity Market register for the T-4 auction was released on 22 December 2017, with an update expected today (12 January 2018). The December register includes a 2.9GW (4%) reduction in prequalified capacity, compared to the initial register.
In this week’s Chart of the week, we look at the reasons behind this reduction in prequalified capacity. The reduction comes after those that had only conditionally prequalified were required to post credit. Those that did not have been withdrawn. These parties may have decided they weren’t going to get planning permission in time to take part in the auction. Or they decided that their projects were unlikely to be successful in the auction.
