The Transport Decarbonisation Plan published yesterday sets out new targets to cut emissions from the sea, roads and railways, joining an earlier commitment to phase out polluting cars and vans by 2035. In assessing the progress so far, we take a look at data released last week from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd (SMMT). This showed that combined, Battery Electric Vehicle (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) accounted for 17.2% of new car sales in June, with BEVs accounting for more than one in 10 registrations.
