On 4 December, Energy Systems Catapult (ESC) – an independent, not-for-profit research centre – issued a press release highlighting response from energy consumers on the ‘Home Truths’ consumer panel. The panel gives businesses bespoke feedback and is available to test business ideas. The survey was designed to facilitate on smart local energy systems – a process where homes and businesses can generate and sell their own clean power and provide flexibility to assist with grid balancing.
418 consumers participated in the survey and gave their views on four service concepts, as illustrated in our Chart of the Week covering Peer-to-Peer trading, demand-side response, Heat as a Service and Vehicle-to-Grid. In addition, survey participants were asked to comment on their thoughts of the overarching concept of local energy.
