Headlines - There were few changes in pricing in August 2017, with small suppliers continuing to lead large and medium suppliers on price British Gas announced, on 1 August, that its electricity prices on its standard variable tariff would rise by 12.5% on 15 September. Ofgem released its complaints data for Q217, with British Gas continuing to lead the large suppliers on complaints levels, whilst Ovo Energy again records the lowest complaints levels of all suppliers. Whilst the electricity market on a national basis has been considered competitive since April 2015, the gas market remains moderately concentrated despite a continually falling HHI.
